April Showers

Well so far April had met its expectations by bringing us some showers. Which I have no problem with because hey at least my car will get the pollen rinsed off of it. I actually like the month of April because it means that summer is almost here which is always a plus. I mean school is almost over for the semester and that means that I do not have to drive 45 minutes five days a week at least until the fall. Plus PEEPS are here. I love peeps there great. Well everyone I hope that you have a good day and enjoy reading my blogs.

MARDI GRAS !!!

Mardi Gras was awesome. This was my first Mardi Gras without marching in it. I absolutely loved it and had a great time. We went Friday through Tuesday. I did not get to go to Joe Cain day because I had to work. But its okay because I spent all day Tuesday at the parades. We caught so many beads, cups, and moonpies. We even caught stuffed animals and cookies. I was really amazed at the amount of people who participate and even go to Mardi Gras. I really enjoyed monday nights parade because we caught so much more stuff that night. We stood on the corner of St. Francis and Royal street and it was awesome. The on Fat Tuesday I did the Family thing and was with my mother and youngest brother. Then we all went to Hooters and left for lunch. When we came back the party was on. When we got back to the square there was a goup of people fighting and then there were cops everywhere. It was cool, cops were running and people were goin crazy. One thing I did not like was the porta potties. They were so gross. I went to use the restroom and there were beer cans everywhere even in the toilet but I guess the drunk people don't care. Then we all went down to Martinis where WABB was and participated in the throwing of beads to and from the balcony. It was crazy girls were flashing people from the balcony and a women even flashed a group of guys who all took pictures with there camera phones. It was pretty crazy. Then we headed down by the cell block and bought some drinks. Finished them real quick and went back for more. Then it was time for the last parade so we went back to our wonderful street St. Francis to wait for the parade. There I meet this guy named Bobby who was from my hometown Andalusia which was pretty cool. We got to talking nad found out that we went to the same elementary school and that my favorite teacher was his aunt. We exchanged numbers and have become friends. So overall my Mardi Gras was a great experience and I would not change anything that I did except I might not have went back for more drinks. But hey I still had a great time and I can not wait for next year. So if you have never been to Mardi Gras and actually experienced it you should go next year and see what its all about.

Classroom Blogs in the United States

I found a blog at South Valley Junior High in Liberty Missouri. There is an eight gradehistory class who has a blog. The teacher Mr. Langhorst uses this blog to discuss assignments and even has class notes and lectures on there. It also includes audio where the students can listen to lectures and interviews with their Missour House of Representatives. He even has a blog on a historic novel that the class read called The Year of The Hangman. On this blog he asks the class to dicuss different parts of the book. I believe that this was a great way to get the kids involved in their school work and discussion. Click on the word Blog to visit this blog.

There was another blog from Chehalem Valley Middle School in Newsburg Oregon. This blog was different that the other blog that I viewed. These students did more blogging like in our class. They talked about a variety of topics and commented on each others blogs. I liked how they were showing the kids how to navigate the internet and use the computer by bringing in their own likes. This type of blogging was a totally different approach that the eight grade class in Missouri used but I liked this method ad blog more than the previous one. My First Weeks of Blogging

I have honestly enjoyed blogging these past few weeks. I have done the whole myspace thing beore but not blogging itself. The idea of bringing blogging into a classroom is great. It can allow students to communicate more. Not only will this create many friendships but it will allow students to ask questions about homework.
Bringing this in K-12 classrooms has both positive and negative aspects. The positive things seem to outweigh the negative greatly. At least in nmy opinion they do. One positive aspect is it allows comunication skills to be created. Many kids are not as open as others so this can allow every child to express things and allow the others to read what they have written. Also it can increase a childs knowledge and use of the internet and a computer. There are many children who may see learning lame. Blogging may cause them to become more interested in learning and in learning about each other.
Some negative things are that all children may not have access to a computer or internet service. This can cause a great problem in a classroom because some children may be behind or even feel insignificant to the other children. Also some children are better at computer things than others causing their blog to be better. But all of these things can be solved in one way or the other. So overall I think that bringing blogging into classrooms is a great way to boost learning in children. I am a college student and I think that I benefit from blogging in the classroom.
